Background of the Study

Classroom interactivity plays a vital role in student engagement and learning outcomes. Traditional teaching methods, while effective, can sometimes fail to engage students in a way that fosters deep learning and collaboration. Augmented Reality (AR), a technology that overlays digital content onto the real world, has the potential to transform the classroom experience by creating interactive learning environments that engage students in immersive, hands-on activities. Artificial Intelligence (AI) can further enhance AR by personalizing learning experiences and adapting content to individual students' needs. At Kogi State Polytechnic, there is a growing interest in leveraging AI-powered AR learning tools to improve classroom interactivity and foster more engaging educational experiences. This study investigates the impact of AI-based AR learning systems on classroom interactivity and student engagement at Kogi State Polytechnic.

Statement of the Problem

Despite advances in educational technology, many classrooms at Kogi State Polytechnic still rely on traditional methods of instruction that fail to fully engage students or promote active participation. Students often experience a passive learning environment that can hinder their understanding and retention of complex concepts. AI-powered AR learning systems offer an opportunity to create dynamic and interactive learning environments that can increase student engagement and improve learning outcomes. However, the effectiveness of these systems in enhancing classroom interactivity remains underexplored in the context of Kogi State Polytechnic.

Objectives of the Study

1. To design and implement an AI-based AR learning system to enhance classroom interactivity at Kogi State Polytechnic.

2. To assess the impact of the AI-based AR system on student engagement and participation in classroom activities.

3. To evaluate the effectiveness of AI-based AR learning in improving students' understanding and retention of course material.

Research Questions

1. How does the AI-based AR learning system affect classroom interactivity and student participation?

2. To what extent does the AI-powered AR system improve student engagement compared to traditional learning methods?

3. What is the impact of AI-based AR learning on students' understanding and retention of course material?

Research Hypotheses

1. The AI-based AR learning system improves classroom interactivity and student participation.

2. The AI-powered AR system increases student engagement compared to traditional methods.

3. The implementation of AI-based AR learning improves students' understanding and retention of course material.

Significance of the Study

This study will contribute to the understanding of how AI-powered AR learning systems can be used to enhance classroom interactivity and engagement at Kogi State Polytechnic. The findings may inform the adoption of similar systems in other educational institutions seeking to improve the quality of instruction and student learning experiences.

Scope and Limitations of the Study

The study will focus on the design, implementation, and evaluation of AI-based AR learning systems in selected classrooms at Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja. The limitations may include technological constraints, the adaptability of students and instructors to new learning methods, and challenges in measuring engagement and participation.
